With the world re-opening and recovering from the recent troubles, people are now choosing to cross the world on holiday again, and there is no better destination than Thailand. Virtually all holiday visitors enter Thailand by flying into Bangkok and, after three or four days of site seeing, are ready for some perfectly pure sandy beaches and clear blue seas. There are plenty of locations to choose from, but one of the best is the island of Koh Samui, which sits in the Gulf of Thailand, a small distance off the west coast. The island is able to offer all types of accommodation, from relatively inexpensive beachside villas through mid-range family-orientated hotels to the best 5-star resorts on Koh Samui.
When To Go & How to Get There
The best time to visit Koh Samui for sunshine and pleasantly warm weather is the dry season which runs between December and February, but this is also the high season, and the island is at its busiest. If you don’t mind a little rain and prefer it less busy, look to visit in the months on either side of the dry season, it might also be cheaper on your pocket. The best way to get to the island is by a short one-hour flight from Bangkok, internal flights in Thailand are affordable, and the alternative is a lengthy bus or train journey followed by a ferry crossing.
Plenty To Do and See
As Thailand’s second largest island, Koh Samui can offer a great blend of amazing food and friendly people, and if you tire of the amazing sandy beaches, there are plenty of attractions and activities to fill your days with. Popular tourist sites include the temples at Wat Phra Yai, also known as the Big Buddha and Wat Plai Laem and the stunning Pagodas of Laem Sor and Khao Hua Jook. As an island, Koh Samui can offer an excellent range of water sports, including windsurfing, Jet Ski and, of course, both scuba and snorkel dive trips for beginners and experienced divers. For those who prefer to stay on land and get adventurous, Go-karting, Paintballing or jungle exploration by quad bike are all options for a day away from the beach.
You will be hard-pressed to find a better holiday destination than Koh Samui; the fantastic combination of cuisine, culture and picture-perfect beaches are a sure-fire winner perfect for kicking back, relaxing and having a superb vacation.
